Getting Bigger

Believe it or not, these peanuts are packing on the pounds. Cameron's weight is up to 5 lbs from his 4 lb 13 oz birth weight. Paige was born at 4 lbs, but lost a large portion due to her lack of eating (hence why she is in the NICU). She now weighs 3 lbs 14 oz, which is a great weight gain for her! She is eating very well, and needs to continue in order to lose her NG tube (the feeding tube in her nose). When she can eat 80% of her daily feedings she can come home! (Mom & Dad are hoping by the weekend, but we learn not to get our hopes up in the NICU). Cameron has a line in his arm that was providing him with fluids, and that will be stopped today! One less thing to think about! He has the NG tube just like Paige, and has to meet the same expectations as Paige before coming home. He is a little slower in the eating business, clearly he does not take after his daddy! He is still figuring out why we keep putting this strange bottle in his mouth! Unfortunately he got a later start on bottle feeding since he was receiving breathing assistance the first few days. They say the light bulb will come on all of a sudden, in the meantime he is making his mommy & daddy go crazy! I can't estimate when he will be home, it could be the weekend, and it could be next week, but we know it's soon, and that helps.

Together Again

Today Paige was moved into the bed next to Cameron...yeah! They were finally together again since delivery last Friday! It was neat to get to compare them side by side. The nurses were so excited for us, and set up a nice little photo shoot...enjoy the pictures!

Come Along on Our Ride!

We have decide to start a blog to update and document friends and family on our little bundles of joy, Cameron David & Paige Christine.

Cameron and Paige entered the world on December 18th via c-section 1 day shy of 35 weeks gestation. Paige was born at 8:43 weighing 4 lbs. and measuring 16 1/2 inches. She is a peanut and has her mommy's toes! Cameron was born at 8:44 weighing 4 lbs. 13 oz. and measuring 17 1/2 inches. He is so handsome and looks like his daddy!

Both babies are currently in the NICU at Lutheran General Hospital. Cameron has been in since December 19th, and Paige since December 25th (her admission was truly a Christmas gift). There they are being seen by doctors and nurses who specialize in care of preterm babies. Cameron's lungs had a hard time transistioning once outside the womb, and he did receive oxygen. He is currently off of all assistance as of December 26th. Both babies are working on feeding from a bottle, and will need to do this before coming home. We don't have an exact day when they will arrive home, we just know it is soon...hurry up kids!
