We found out we were expecting in late May of 2009, this part was not a surprise, the next part was. When I went in for a "pregnancy confirmation" (this is the surprise part) there were 2 jellybeans on the screen. This initially alarmed me because I had just seen an ultra sound picture online the day before while researching "pregnancy." I quickly dismissed this online photo because...well, YIKES! So, fast forward 24 hours and that crazy picture in in front of me! The ultra sound tech is looking a little confused/excited and asking me all kinds of questions before telling me "count with me." Why would I count with...OHMYGOD! It's the picture from the internet! "It's Twins!" Of course Mike was at work....so, I got to spend the rest of the afternoon deciding how I was going to tell him (He had ALWAYS wanted twins). He didn't believe me, we caught it on film, & it was hilarious. The next day we had already planned on having friends over for a cook out....so, what better time to tell everyone! The Cubs were playing the Twins that weekend & we used that to our advantage! Everyone was truly surprised, join the club.
The pregnancy was pretty uneventful. I became a planet, could not stomach eating meet, & drank 1/2 a gallon of milk a day! I stopped working at Thanksgiving to concentrate on napping (this is a true story). Since the nursery was finished by mid-November (are you surprised?), I spent the next 4 weeks Christmas shopping & napping! It went like this...walk into a store, look around, & walk back out! Literally carrying 2 babies was tiring! I had a routine of taking a 3 hour nap every afternoon, I miss that routine! On December 18th (34 weeks & 5 days) I woke up from a nap & things were happening (I'll spare you the details). After talking to the Dr (who made it sound like I needed a police escort) I called Mike, showered, & cleaned the house...please, I'm sure this is a priority for many. When we got to the hospital things were really progressing quickly! My normal OB was working L&D that night (YEAH!), & I met her in the OR for a little birthday party!
At 8:43 pm Miss Page came out (1st of course, I would expect nothing less), and at 8:44 Mr. Cameron arrived! The rest is history with an 18 day NICU stay that taught us so much! Can you tell I am so beyond that now?
How about a little Then & Now...
Here we are, ready or not!
